Berit Schmutzler, born in 1984 in Dresden, received her artistic education diploma as a flautist at Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber (classical music conservatory, Dresden) and Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt (classical music conservatory, Weimar, class of prof. Wally Hase). During her studies she was an intern at Sächsische Staatkapelle (saxonian state orchestra, Dresden), later she was a member of the orchestra academy at Staatskapelle Weimar.
Berit Schmutzler held a two year engagement at the Dresdner Philharmonie, after which she was offered a position as solo flautist with the orchestra of Landestheater Schleswig Holstein (regional theatre of Schleswig-Holstein, Flensburg). She has also played in several independent ensembles, including the Mitteldeutsches Kammerorchester (central German chamber orchestra, Weimar/Leipzig). Currently, Berit Schmutzler lives in Berlin and works as a freelance musician.
